Our BrainVision actiCHamp system is used to record EEG and derive ERPs with adult and infant participants. We have a 32-channel EEG system and accessories that permit recording peripheral signals (EOG, EMG, ECG, GSR) with the EEG.

Research conducted at the Applied Neuro-Cognitive Research (ANChoR) laboratory at St. Francis Xavier University aims to investigate the neurophysiological mechanisms involved in a variety of cognitive functions (e.g., how we process information from our environment, movement control, attention, learning, memory). Affiliated reasearchers study these functions across the lifespan, from infancy to old age, and in individuals affected by developmental disorders (e.g., autism, Down syndrome, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder [ADHD]) and neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis [MS], Parkinson's disease). Electroencephalography (EEG) and event-related potentials (ERPs) are used to measure brain function associated with cognitive abilities.
