Equipment
Used for conducting experiments with variable levels of magnetic field
Cryogen-free variable field superconducting magnet operating at 0.79 T, 1.5 T, and 3 T with 1H resonance frequencies of 33.6 MHz, 63.6 MHz, and 127.8 MHz, respectively
The three RF probes employed are birdcages, 9 cm in length and 5 cm in diameter, driven by a 2 kW, BT02000-AlphaSA, RF amplifier
The gradient coil is driven by GA-300 gradient amplifiers providing maximum gradient strengths of 66.4 G cm-1, 64.9 G cm-1 and 87.8 G cm-1 in the x, y and z directions
The magnet is permanently connected to a 4G superconducting magnet power supply
The magnet can rotate from a vertical to a horizontal orientation.
Research Facility
Our lab applies Magnetic Resonance methods to studies of materials and processes with short signal lifetimes. We do work in two areas of NMR and MRI applied to materials science: two-phase media and portable NMR instrumentation/applications.
