Single Crystal X-ray Diffractometer

Equipment

Single Crystal X-ray Diffractometer
Siemens/Bruker
Mixed APEXII detector on a SMART base

To determine the positions of atoms in molecules within a single crystal.

Siemens three circle SMART system (1996)
(upgraded in 2010) with:
Bruker APEXII detector
Oxford Cryosystems Variable Temperature 100K-400K

1996

Research Facility

Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction Facility
Saint Mary's University
Halifax
Nova Scotia (NS)

We can determine the location of atoms within molecules in the solid state. This is accomplished by analyzing single crystals of appropriate size (0.1mm to 0.5 mm).

Depending on the nature of the work, we are capable of loading and screening samples, running samples, and solving/refining the data to produce publication-quality results.
