We have the capabilities to measure the amount of gas that can be absorbed into porous material. This can yield information regarding the internal surface area, the pore size distribution, and the host-guest interaction energy.

Typical samples can be prepared on a temperature and pressure controlled heating stage. More sensitive samples can be prepared using supercritical CO2.

Samples are typically run with nitrogen as the probe gas molecule. Other gases (e.g., CO2), can be run as a function of both pressure and temperature.
